“We interrupt this program…”

Fair warning to all: we may shortly be experiencing a temporary interruption of communication flow emanating from here at Arrow In Flight Headquarters.  Tomorrow, you see, I’m relocating my visage to a new vantage.  That is…I’m moving…

This is not actually my home, nor are those my belongings...but the state of affairs in my place is kind of similar to this right now...

You know the drill: pack up your life into a mountain of cardboard boxes, try to discard various outmoded items as you go, then run out the last few minutes on the clock in your shell of a former home until the movers arrive to truck your goods over to your new digs and enact the process in reverse.  I’ve been packing, discarding, and swabbing up as I go for several days straight now, and I’m sensing that my timing has been pretty good: I believe I’ll finish up today with relative ease (all things considered…), which is excellent, as my movers are scheduled to show up not long after the crack of dawn has cracked tomorrow…

Thankfully, this move will be one aimed at relocating me just a half-dozen miles across town — my previous move, the one that got me here, involved a much larger transplant, one which saw me traversing the geographical and (as many residents of both halves of the state will tell you) the cultural distances that separate Northern California from Southern CA (I actually happen to like both sections of the state, although hordes of people love one and despise the other…).

Anyway…moving.

Moving: Off to see the wizard? Off to *be* the wizard?? Whatever might transpire, and inarguable drag that it may be, moving often provides opportunities for fresh starts!

I’m excited about the new possibilities that await me just up ahead as I make this jump!  My current place has been good to me, and it enabled me to enter Los Angeles and get my bearings, but I also feel ready to move on.  This place could fairly be described as secluded, and a bit dark in its vibe — neighboring buildings and/or dense foliage adjacent to every single one of my windows block out most of the natural light that might otherwise lend itself to the interior here, and while I don’t necessarily mind semi-heaping helpings of gloom throughout my days — as I’ve written before, I’m kind of crepuscular! — not every one of my guests loves the twilight, and it’s of course nice to have more options.  I also could maybe do without the incredible narrowness of the residential streets around here, and the considerable difficulties inherent in trying to get anywhere (my present neighborhood is situated such that there are zero freeways readily accessible, and the main surface street arteries are always choked with barely moving logjams of vehicles).

My new place, in contrast, is bright, open, airy, has some great views, is perched on a very wide thoroughfare, and is situated amid a generous handful of freeways, allowing for considerably greater free mobility.  It also happens to bring me physically closer to virtually every friend I have in LA, and to almost every destination toward which I regularly aim myself.  I’m wildly optimistic about what the future may hold for me in this new phase of my life, and hopefully some of that will translate into fodder for some good articles here, as well.  The only short-term downside I can see on that front is that after I disconnect and pack up my computer later today, I may be forced to miss a day or two of posting here.  I plan to do my best to get hooked back up again on the other end of my relocation as soon as possible, but that may well involve one or more days devoid of posts.  I’ve been trying to blog every single day since I started this website up in earnest back in May, and so far, I think I’ve only failed to meet that goal three times.  Not bad, but I did feel I should post here about how my batting average may take another slight dip due to prevailing circumstances…

I may be forced to put up a metaphorical sign like this one here for a day or two -- and I guess in some sense, a "high wind" of sorts is indeed blowing me right across town! Here's hoping the ride gets even wilder upon reopening...;)

So that’s that for the moment — this Arrow is truly In Flight!  Fine weekend wishes to anyone reading this, and I’ll be back atcha soon from my new plush crib a few neighborhoods over!

    • Thanks for the kind wishes! And it’s encouraging to know that I’m not the only one who doesn’t believe that the Northern/Southern CA thing has to be an either/or proposition!
