One of the things I so enjoy about Astrology is its versatility: there are so many different ways to go about applying the same set of underlying principles. As examples: we can analyze our own birth charts to get a better grasp on who we are as individuals, and how we’re each of us so very uniquely wired…we can use Astrology in predictive ways, to help us in answering questions or in making decisions…some people make use of the information revealed to us by the motions on display above us in the heavens in order to schedule big events (for instance: “Which day would be best for my wedding?” and things of that nature). And another fascinating use comes in the form of “Locational Astrology.”
Locational Astrology is a branch of the field in which Astrology is employed so as to shed light on which points on the globe might be good for us to visit or live in, and in what specific ways. The idea is that even as the fundamental forces of the Universe work within us based on our times and places of birth, those same energies will also have additional unique effects on each of us depending on where we might be at any given time on Planet Earth. I was recently engaged to do some analysis for someone in this area — my first real foray into Locational Astrology — and I’m kind of knocked out by the possibilities of it all…
The notion on the whole does make a lot of sense to me, and not just in some vague, theoretical way…although it works on that level for me, for sure (why wouldn’t we resonate differently in different locales, in much the same way that a musical instrument might vary in tone from one acoustical environment to the next…?). But haven’t you ever visited a place, only to find that everything seemed to go improbably and exceptionally well for you while you were there…or that in certain other places, things tended to fall apart for you, just as surely as if you, yourself, were the centre that couldn’t hold in that famous Yeats poem…? Now, of course, such occurrences could just be coincidental happenings (if you believe in such things as “coincidences,” of course…)…or they could be products of time rather than of place (we do tend to experience cyclical changes in our rhythms that flow in chronological fashion)…but why couldn’t place also factor in? I guess I do believe that some places have power in general, for anyone and everyone…that other places don’t seem to actively exhibit any special might or influence at all that we can perceive…and that still others are definitely places of power, but only for those wired to resonate properly there, so as to be able to perceive and experience that power, or to perceive and experience its effects. In other words…these latter sites are places of power (or lack of power) not for everyone…but for us.
Anyway, this is all just a quick way for me to highlight the existence of this sub-sector of Astrology, and to state affirmatively that while I’m not ready just yet to offer it widely as another arrow in my own personal quiver — since I do have more studying and more focused practicing to do — it does seem to be something toward which I’m now officially working. Do please drop me a line if this is of interest to you, or even if you just want to post a few random thoughts on the subject. Meanwhile, I’m off to travel about town here, and will hopefully gravitate toward those neighborhoods more favorable to the unique astro-being that is me. Happy Friday, everyone, wherever you may roam!
