How To Generate Your FREE Birth-Chart

Astrology occupies an odd place in our culture. Outside of the community of believers and practitioners, the field generally elicits responses that range from mild curiosity at best, to  widespread indifference, to outright scorn at worst. Much of this state of affairs stems from the associations that Astrology has with “fortune-telling.”

But while this discipline can definitely be employed to take a look at prevailing trends and probabilities that might be looming on the horizon, Astrology has another use, and it’s one that I personally recommend…

It’s possible to use your astrological birth-chart as a lens through which you can gaze into your own psyche in order to gain astonishing clarity and insight. Like the greatest inkblot ever committed to paper, the birth-chart has been described as the fingerprint of the soul, the wiring diagram of your personality, and the owner’s manual for your own self. Understanding it can enable you to live a happier and more fulfilling life. This process enables you to seek out the experiences for which you were made, while leaving gently by the roadside those not really meant for you, so that you can travel through the world more freely.

All of which sounds great. But how do you obtain this “birth-chart” that I speak of, and once you do get it, how do you make sense out of all the teeming little symbols buzzing around it like a plague of esoteric locusts…?

Since these questions seem to come up all the time when I chat about these concepts with non-astrologers, I’ve created some guidance for the newcomer. Not only will the steps I’ve outlined below help you to generate your own unique birth-chart, but they’ll also point you toward some basic but handy initial blocks of interpretation of your chart.

And have no fear: the processes I’m describing are completely FREE to perform. Also, I have no affiliation with either website toward which I’m directing you, and I get nothing out of the deal if you work through these steps. I’m offering the following write-up as a public service announcement and nothing more, because a) I’m nice like that, and b) I truly believe that a great measure of the unhappiness felt in the world by humans stems from a lack of clear self-knowledge. If we pitched the content of our lives toward our true selves, we’d thrive, and then so would the world…

Now, if you do go through these steps, and you digest the initial wave of info, and then you still want some help to go further, I’ll be thrilled to set up a session with you and guide you into deeper astrological waters – you can line up an appointment with me via my READINGS page. This would be totally at your option, though!

So with that all being said, go ahead and get busy cranking out charts (including not only your birth-chart, but also some additional relationship-centric ones!), and better know thyself:

Astro.com

  1. Go to astro.com
  2. Hover your cursor over the “Free Horoscopes” tab toward the upper left of the screen.
  3. When the drop-down menu appears, select the “AstroClick Portrait” option.
  4. If you have no account already set up at this site, select the “guest users” option.
  5. At the “Birth Data Entry” page, fill in the information requested: your name, gender, birth date, birth time, and birth place.
  6. IMPORTANT: If you don’t know your exact time of birth, you can enter any time in order to generate a chart, but you will not be able to rely on information given regarding your Rising Sign, or any information having to do with the Houses, your Ascendant (“AC”), or your Midheaven (“MC”).
  7. Once the AstroClick Portrait chart appears, you can use it in interactive fashion by clicking on any of the features to see what they reveal about you. You will be able to get information about any of the Planets, Signs, Aspects (the colored lines that connect various Planets), and if you entered a reliable birth-time, then also your Ascendant, Midheaven, and any of the Houses.
  8. Other interactive options include:
    1. AstroClick Travel – This function projects the information from your birth-chart onto a map of the world. By then choosing the “Scalable Google Map” option from the pull-down menu, you can surf the map of the world and then click on places of interest to you in order to learn how any given location might affect you, based on the your own unique chart.
    2. AstroClick Love – This function is much like AstroClick Portrait option, but your chart features are interpreted here in the context of love and romance.
    3. AstroClick Partner – This function asks you to enter birth data for two people, and it then creates something called a Composite Chart. This new chart is not for either of the individuals involved, but is rather a chart of their relationship itself. This chart is again interactive, and clicking on features will yield pre-written summaries of the various chart features.

Astromatrix.org

  1. Go to astromatrix.org
  2. Click on the “Free Horoscopes” tab toward the upper left of the screen.
  3. When the drop-down menu appears, select the “Birth Chart” option.
  4. On the next page, fill in the information requested: your name, birth date, birth time, and birth place.
  5. IMPORTANT: If you don’t know your exact time of birth, you can enter any time in order to generate a chart, but you will not be able to rely on information given regarding your Rising Sign, or any information having to do with the Houses, your Ascendant (“AC”), or your Midheaven (“MC”).
  6. Once the chart appears, you can read the pre-written summaries of your chart features by choosing the various menu items listed in a row above the chart: Summary View, Personality, Emotional, Mind, Vitality, Opportunity, Generational.
  7. In addition to your birth-chart, you can also obtain Daily Horoscope, Monthly Horoscope, and Relationship Compatibility reports by selecting these from the row of options along the top of the screen. The Relationship Compatibility option here is not the same as the AstroClick Partner option available at Astro.com. That option offers a Composite Chart, which is like a mathematical average of the charts of the two individuals involved. Here, Astromatrix offers something called a Synastry chart – instead of combining two individuals’ charts into a single composite chart that captures the essence of the relationship itself, Synastry lines up the two individual charts alongside each other, and then describes how they will tend to interact. It can be helpful and fascinating when investigating a relationship to look at both the Composite Chart and the Synastry analysis!
