It’s one of our core beliefs here at Arrow In Flight that increasing your self-knowledge is a fantastic pathway toward achieving greater overall wellness.
Think about it: if you don’t pitch your efforts in life so as to be the person that you were truly meant to be, then you’ll experience all manner of stress and unhappiness. Even if you manage to fool the world into buying your performance as this other person that you were never meant to be, and even if the world then rewards you with material success…you will most likely feel empty and unfulfilled.
We each came here to work on certain lessons and certain challenges, and to apply certain skills and talents that are unique to us. If we avoid engaging with life in these ways, then whatever we do choose to fill our days with will probably have very little to do with who we really are, and with what we incarnated here to address.
This is why we so heartily recommend using metaphysical systems like Astrology, Tarot, Soul Realignment™, and others to get a clearer sense of self. Know thyself…and thyself can then live a life that’s far, far more relevant and on-point.
So with all of that in mind, check out the simple technique down below for distilling out a powerful and very personal identifying symbol that carries serious importance in more than one metaphysical system.
Numerologists, for example, use the technique to arrive at a person’s Life Path Number, which is described over at Numerology.com as “the single most important number in your Numerology chart…this number acts as a blueprint for your whole life, and …greatly influences your personality and the opportunities and challenges you will face.”
Tarot people will use the same number to determine a person’s “Soul Card.” This is the card in a Tarot deck that captures the nature of a given person’s overarching mission across all of the lifetimes they might lead.
This great identifying number flows from out of your birthday. Using the following steps, you can crunch your birthday down into that critical integer…
There are several different ways to work through this process, but Numerology.com insists that this one is the gold standard out of all of them:
First, add up the digits of your birth month…and then continue to add the digits of the resulting sums together until you arrive at a single digit, or at one of the “Master Numbers,” which are 11, 22, and, depending on who you ask, maybe also 33.
Next, do the same for your birth day…and then follow suit with your birth year.
When you have the three different numbers crunched down into either single-digit results or Master Numbers, you then close out the process by adding those three numbers together, and then crunch the digits of this final sum down until you again produce either a single ultimate digit or a final Master Number.
Did that sound like gibberish? Not to worry: this is all much simpler to do than it sounds when it’s written out in cumbersome word form as above. It becomes way more accessible when you see it applied to some real numbers.
So let’s use Jimi Hendrix as a walk-through example (because including Jimi Hendrix in things invariably makes them better…)…
Guitar legend Jimi Hendrix was born on November 27, 1942. Here in the States, we write that in month-first fashion as:
Here’s how we apply the above protocol:
Month: 11 (Jimi was born in November, the 11th month…and 11 is already a legit Master Number, so no more crunching is required here)
Day: 27→ 2 + 7 = 9
Year: 1942→ 1 + 9 + 4 + 2 = 16 → 1 + 6 = 7
Combine above sums: 11 + 9 + 7 = 27 → 2 + 7 = 9
Jimi’s Life Path Number is therefore 9, and his Soul Card in Tarot would be The Hermit, which is card IX in the deck.
According to The Numerology Bible, a person with a Life Path Number of 9 is “on a quest for truth… Your path is that of the teacher and philosopher…you know deep inside that you are ‘meant’ to do something for the collective… You know how to motivate the collective, and you may be good at getting publicity in the media…it is very important that you don’t lose touch with your own ‘ordinariness’… Love is the strongest energy of all.”
Jimi Hendrix was undeniably tapped into the collective: he died at the young age of only 27, yet in that relatively short time, he became a living legend, he was the most highly-paid musician on Earth in his final days, and he’s still revered decades after his death as possibly the greatest rock guitarist to ever walk among us. Some of that “Life Path 9” energy as described above does seem apparent in him…
Turning to Tarot, anyone who can claim The Hermit as their Soul Card would be tagged as a spiritual seeker. These are people who exist so as to ask the really big questions – Who am I? What is the point of existence? What is consciousness? Is there a God? – and their quest to find answers is both their constant journey, and the only real destination that matters to them.
Jimi was known to ask the occasional Big Question in his songs: “Am I happy or in misery?” seems like a simple one to answer on the face of it, but how many people would grind to a halt when faced with it? Or how about another “Purple Haze” puzzler: “Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time…?” These actually do feel like Hermit-level questions. And Jimi posed yet another brain-teaser in song-form – a fairly numerological one, in fact – that asks us all to ponder what it might mean “if a 6 turned out to be 9…” That also seems like something The Hermit could gnaw at for an eon or two…
So wouldn’t it help to know these kinds of things about yourself? What’s your Life Path Number, and does the standard summary of that Number feel like it fits you? Does your Soul Card actually describe your true inner self, and what might be your cosmic mission…?
Run your own birthday through the schematic above, and get yourself some answers, and some boosted self-knowledge…that way lies wellness…
